I received this from Registered Dietitian Jayson Hunter and author of the Carb Rotation Diet. It is a new look at an old food. Meals don’t have to be boring as Jayson describes below.
“I was in the airport last week and found something on a menu called the Fiesta Burger and I thought I would let you know about this recipe to help with your meal boredom.
I thought I would give it a try and I have to say it added some great flavor to an ordinary burger.
If you are looking for some new recipe ideas then give the fiesta burger a try.
The fiesta burger is a normal hamburger topped with some salsa.
You could choose your own salsa whether it be mild, medium or hot salsa depending on your love of spicy foods.
It can also fit on a high carb, low carb or no carb day just by choosing whether or not you have a bun or not with it.
It actually doesn’t need a bun if you have the salsa with the hamburger patty.
You could also try this combination with chicken as well.
Some other suggestions I received from my subscribers was to try a burger with fat free feta cheese, garlic, a few other spices. Cook it on the grill. Then topped it with sauted onions and portabello mushrooms……no bun. Finish off the plate with a small amount of oven cooked sweet potato “french fries”, roasted asparagus, and a salad.”

Tips For Losing Weight

There is no doubt that weight loss is one of the biggest and most covered topics out there today. In fact, it seems like the problem has grown in the last few decades. How can that be, when we know so much more about the human body and how to deal with weight loss? The answer is that foods have gotten a lot worse. Back thousands of years ago, there was no mcdonald’s and fast food, and to eat, you would have to hunt. Nowadays you can just drive down to your local take away and get a burger, chips and coke all full of fat. Also, many people don’t know how to cook, and don’t really want to learn. The availability and convenience of fast food has definitely played a role in the obesity problem in America today.
If you have gotten slightly overweight and want to lose weight easily, then you really need to focus hard and dedicate yourself. Honestly, losing weight is not really easy – it will take you several months of dieting and exercise in many cases. However, there are several ways to motivate yourself, and you can definitely lose pounds every week. Losing weight is actually a lot like making money. There aren’t really many secrets, and you have to work for it to get what you want. However, dieting and exercise doesn’t need to be painful. Just walking around can help you lose weight, and going or 30 minutes of exercise each day can be pleasant and refreshing. Also, with dieting, you’ll find that many really healthy and low calorie foods don’t actually taste that bad. In many cases, low-calorie food tastes better than the kind of food you’ll find overloaded with fat at your local takeaway.
So far, I have not encountered any really fast weight loss or “shortcut” to losing weight. Even though dieting and exercise doesn’t have to be painful and can actually be enjoyable, it will still take some time. My recommendation is to keep yourself motivated and measure your weight when you get up everyday. You need to be constantly reminded of your goal. One way to reduce the temptation to eat fatty foods is to have a picture of a slim model on your fridge. That way, everytime you go there for a piece of cake, you will see the picture and be reminded that junk food is always going to add to your weight.

Weekly Protein Diet Plan To Help Manage Your Weight

We need protein in our diet to stay strong and healthy. If we don’t eat enough our bodies will steal it from our muscles and organs. In fact, protein is essential for the development of our muscles, which lead to an increase in the burning of calories. Our muscles could be described as fat furnaces as they keep our metabolism running high. And protein is very good at curbing appetite and balancing blood sugar in contrast to many “fast release” carbohydrate based foods and snacks.
Traditionally we were taught that carbohydrates should provide our body with its primary supply of energy. However, many people have confused fast releasing carbohydrates (pasta, cakes) and slow releasing carbohydrates (whole grains, vegetables) eating too many of the former-the tempting, convenient, tasty variety! Most of us lead sedentary lives, so any excess energy from carbohydrate-rich food) is stored as fat.
How much protein do I need? On average: Women need typically 80 -100g of protein in diet per day. Men need 100-150g protein per day. If you tried to get all the protein you need from foods such as meats, you would consume too many calories, because these protein rich foods come with extra fat calories.
Following a lean protein diet
Protein comes in the form of meat, soy products, cheese and dairy products. However, most of these are in the form of animal proteins, which add greatly to the bad cholesterol in our bodies. Therefore we need to look for high quality proteins, in our diet, from non-animal sources.Protein-enriched meal replacement shakes, protein supplement powders and high protein low carbohydrate snack products, contain protein sources which are easily absorbed and assimilated, and which allow you to reach your body’s protein requirements without those unwanted calories.
And for those concerned about Cholesterol levels? The inclusion of at least 25g Soya protein per day as part a diet low in saturated fats can help reduce blood cholesterol.
