Senior Walking Exercise for Fast Weight Loss.

Are you happy with your weight?

If not you can do something about it now. For fast weight loss you need just two things. A weight loss program and exercise. Fitness walking will give you the muscles and the exercise you need to burn calories. A healthy diet will do the rest.

Introduce your weight loss program gradually.

How fast is fast? You should aim to lose about 1-2 lb a week. For this you must eat 500-1000 fewer calories a day. That way you will lose 12-24 lbs over three months. Anything quicker is not a good idea, but the results will be noticeable well before the three months is up.

Write down your plan.

Give yourself a timescale for your walking exercise and weightloss program. Keep a check while you watch the pounds vanish. If you don’t hit your target celebrate at coming close. If you didn’t come close look at what you are doing wrong. For…

Failure is not an option.

Maybe you think you have tried everything, diet, exercise, personal coaching, even advice on the internet. Nothing you attempted has taken the weight off. You feel that it is impossible and nothing you can do will work. But there is still hope. Trust me, there really is.

It’s a lifestyle choice.

If you have not lost weight, and you don’t have a medical problem, you are either eating too much, not getting enough exercise or both. But don’t just eat less of what you have always eaten. Change you whole diet. Then up the exercise by extending your walking fitness program. It really is easy and you can do I. You are reading this article, that’s a start. Have one more try.

What is the best diet then?

From my experience the best diet will always be the Mediterranean Diet. Fruit, green vegetables, lean meat, oily fish and an occasional glass of wine. I love it and it works for me. It will work for you.

How do you know that’s right?

Well, I’ve been there. I’ve been overweight myself and by using the Mediterranean Diet I am now exactly my target weight, which is what I was as a teenager. It was part of a weight loss and walking exercise program and it worked.

But don’t just believe me.

A. Tripopoulou of the University of Athens Medical School says:
‘The current momentum towards the Mediterranean Diet has solid biological foundation and does not represent transient fashion. We are now well under way to explain what nature has been trying to tell us through the otherwise unexplained good health of the Mediterranean people.’

So just do it.

It’s easy, give it a try and within a few weeks you will be pounds lighter. That’s what you wanted, wasn’t it?

Improving Your Metabolism With Healthy Snacks

Portable healthy snacks are the latest trend in the snacking industry. Wrapped stringed cheese, Go-Gurt (portable yogurt), individually packaged vegetable portions with low-fat dip and 100-calorie potato chips or cookies are helping us to eat healthy, even when we feel we have no time to do so.

To maintain a healthy weight and reduce our risk for heart disease or cancer, we have to be more mindful of eating a balanced diet packed with nutrients and controlling our calorie count. This most basic lesson from childhood can be quickly pushed aside for favorite foods and convenience foods. Yet here are some healthy snacks you soon won’t be able to live without.

healthy snacks
Do you rarely have time for a pleasant sit-down breakfast? Luckily, there are a number of morning-friendly, healthy food snacks to wake up your metabolism and provide you with the nutrients you need to get a fresh start.

For a quick solution, try half a peanut butter sandwich on whole-wheat bread, low-sugar whole-grain granola bars (with at least 3 grams of fiber), 4-6 ounces of low-fat yogurt, some high-fiber cereal with dried fruit or a bowl of instant oatmeal with sliced peaches, if you’ve got five minutes.

Throughout the day, nothing kills our motivation like a heavy 30-minute lunch. Instead, healthy snack foods can keep us pumped throughout the day. Dietician-recommended options include a handful of unsalted or lightly salted dry-roasted nuts, a single serving pack of unsweetened applesauce with healthy foods, a small apple with two tablespoons of peanut butter or one ounce of low-fat cheese, half a string cheese with a few pieces of fruit or whole grain crackers or pretzels with low-fat cheese.

Raw foods, like vegetables, can be jazzed up with nacho cheese, low-fat ranch or no-fat veggie dip. Lunch snacks manufacturers have been making portable individual packets of carrots, celery, apple slices, nuts, low-fat cheese and other goodies to promote eating healthy.

“Look for snacks that contain protein with healthy carbohydrates and fats, and eat your snacks slowly so they fill you up,” advises Baylor nutrition Professor Suzy Weems, PhD. There are many healthy snacks to choose from, so it can be easy to lose track of how our weight loss is stacking up throughout the day.

A free community website, www.sparkspeople.com, allows users to enter the food they’ve eaten during the day into a database, which tallies up protein, calories, fat and other statistics to help keep track of weight loss goals.

Creative Ways to Help Kids Lose Weight

One thing you can do the help your overweight child learn how to eat better is to have them get involved in planning your meals as well as the shopping and cooking. Giving them the power to choose what they eat, within the boundaries that you set, can be a highly successful way to teach them how to make good decisions. Not only that, but they learn a valuable skill – cooking!

Second, increase their exercise level by beginning some sort of a rewards program. Many children live lives that are extremely sedentary, which contributes to their weight problems. Use their preference for activities like watching TV and playing video games to your advantage by making them “earn” the TV time with exercise. To get them started, make a set of note cards that assigns reward points based on the activity. This accomplishes two things at once – it gets them exercising and also limits their “screen time.”

Last but not least is the idea of sending your child to a weight loss camp for kids. Gone are the days of “fat camps” that use militaristic techniques to get kids to lose weight. Today’s weight loss summer camps incorporate fun and exciting activities with valuable lessons and skills in choosing foods, cooking, and so on. Most importantly, your child will enjoy themselves at the camp and will learn valuable life skills that they can adopt in their daily lives.

lose weight for wedding – by following these easy steps!

Weight loss – such a “big” topic! Everyone wants to know the secret to losing weight, especially if you need to lose weight for wedding.

I certainly don’t have THE secret, but I do have some secrets, and I want to share them with you in the hope you find them helpful.

Weight used to be a major issue for me. Losing weight was never out of my thoughts, and I can’t tell you how many different diets, pills and programs I tried until I discovered some “secrets” that have worked for me for many years now. But the best thing is ,I was able to lose weight before wedding!

So here they are. I hope they work as well for you as they have for me.

1. Change your focus from losing weight to achieving great health.

First I read tons of books on nutrition and became convinced that I needed to switch to organic foods. That was quite a challenge in 1961! There was one coop health food store that I had to follow around Los Angeles because it kept moving locations. But it was worth it! My rule of thumb now is – if they didn’t eat it 100 years ago, then I won’t eat it now. This cuts out most packaged and processed foods and leaves natural, organic food. This helped me a lot to lose weight before wedding.

2. Learn to read your body signals regarding what feels good to your body and what feels bad.

I no longer read about all the different diets because I’ve learned to tune into MY body so that I know exactly what my body needs for great health. Since my body needs different things than your body, no single food plan will work for everyone. Your job is to learn to tune into what gives you energy and what robs you of energy, and what foods create calmness and which ones create agitation. Once I learned what my body needs for great health, I lost weight and kept it off easily.

3. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy and that you can do at least 5 times a week.

I discovered that I love to walk in nature, so I take a fast half-hour walk every day. However, this can be a problem if you have physical limitations or chronic illness. Losing weight with chronic illness or physical limitations is not impossible, but it can be a much bigger challenge.

4. To best way to weight loss, learn to discern which part of you determines what and when you eat, as well as how much you eat.

We all have a wounded part of ourselves that uses various addictions as ways to deal with feelings of loneliness, aloneness, helplessness, anxiety, depression, fear and anger. Some people may use alcohol, drugs, spending, TV, gambling, sex, and so on to avoid their pain, while other use food. While food may work to pacify painful feelings for the moment, in the long run all addictions backfire and create the very pain you are trying to avoid. Yet our wounded self keeps choosing addictive behavior as a way of managing pain. As long as the wounded part of you is making your food choices, you may continue to have a weight problem.

The part of us that is capable of managing painful feelings in healthy ways and making healthy choices is the loving Adult. The loving Adult is the part of us that has a deep desire to learn about and take loving action in our own behalf. Developing a loving Adult is a major aspect in creating health and wellbeing, as well as in losing weight and maintaining a healthy weight.

5. Learn to connect with a spiritual source of wisdom, strength, love and guidance.

The loving Adult is that part of us that is connected with a spiritual source of guidance rather than being governed by the mind. The mind, bring programmed from childhood, is the home of the wounded self. You are being a loving Adult at those moments when you choose to be guided by a source of wisdom beyond your mind. This source will always guide you toward your highest good. You just need to learn to open and listen.

It is very likely that you will not only lose weight, but will also move into more physical and emotional health and wellbeing if you embrace these “secrets” into your life. We offer you a free course (see the resource box) to help you with developing your loving Adult. Once you have developed a powerful loving inner Adult, you will be able to lose weight. If you really want to lose weight, there is a way!

want to loose arm fat? check this out!

The goal of a great and trained body, as well as great arms and six pack abs mainly depends upon losing weight by completing exercises that focus on the muscles in the abdominal area. There are literally dozens of such exercises including many that are meant for other major muscle groups, but that can be modified to include a workout for your abdominal muscles. Here are just a few of the major abdominal emphasis exercises. Make sure you do similar exercises to lose fat arms!

CRUNCHES

Crunches are done by lying on the floor either on a mat or not, with your arms crossed in front of your chest. Many people do crunches with the hands behind the head, but this can create lower back problems because of the pull on the head and neck. A slightly different position has the finger tips placed behind the ears, rather than crossed on the chest. It is important not to pull on the neck or on the ears for assistance in rising off the floor. Instead, suck the abdomen back toward the spine and inhale through the nose at the same time. Raise the shoulders toward the knees using only the muscles in the abdomen. The entire back should not be lifted from the floor, as this is likely to create back strain. No additional benefit to the abdomen is gained by raising the entire torso. The key part of the crunch is the initial flexing of the abdominal muscles as the shoulders are lifted off the floor. As the shoulders clear the floor, exhale through your mouth. Complete the exhalation with a gasp to expel the last of the air from the lungs as your shoulders stay clear of the floor. Lower the shoulders back to the point where the shoulder blade touches the ground while inhaling. It is important to maintain the proper breathing control and muscle flexing to get maximum benefit from crunches.

SIT UPS

Once again start in a position on the floor with your feet flat and your knees bent. The fingers should be placed behind the ears, or you can cross your arms on your chest. Slowly raise the entire back off the floor while inhaling deeply and exhale as you reverse the move. This exercise can be made more challenging in several ways. For instance, you can do sit ups from an incline with your head lower than your lower body. You can then add weights on the chest to lift while you are sitting up. Weights can become heavier on an incline bench. The next difficult step can be attained by holding the feet off the ground while doing sit ups or making a bicycle peddling motion while doing sit ups with your legs. These exercises may not be easy, but are very beneficial to the abdominal area.

LEG LIFTS

Leg lifts begin with the legs straight and the hands at your sides while lying on the floor. Lift both legs up at the same time without bending the knees until the legs are at a ninety degree angle or a close as possible. Not everyone is flexible enough to reach the ninety degree angle. Lower the legs as close as possible to the floor without actually touching and repeat several times. Increase the challenge of this exercise by adding weights to the legs while lifting them. Another challenging exercise for improving definition and musculature in the abdomen is to hang from a pull up bar while lifting both legs to a ninety-degree position. As with most other exercises, try to stay conscious of breathing while slowly doing the routines. to lose fat arms, do arm lifts.

JACKKNIFE SIT UPS

This exercise begins by lying flat on the floor with the hands at your sides in order to provide better balance. At the same time you raise your knees, bring your torso up slowly till the face and knees meet. Return slowly to the original position while in full control of the movement. The jackknife name comes from the natural tendency of the legs to bend at the knee with the feet dropping to the hips presenting the shape of a jackknife. The difficulty level of this position can be increased by holding a weight between the feet while performing the sit ups.

V UPS

This exercise begins with you on your back on the floor with the arms extended over your head. Bring both legs and torso up at the same time without bending the knees or the arms. Keep the pace slow and steady and reach for your feet with your extended hands at the top of the arc. If possible, try to touch your feet, but this move can be tricky until your level of flexibility increases. As with other exercises, adding weight between the feet increases the difficulty level.
