Getting Started Making Weight Loss Changes

“More die in the United States of too much food than of too little.”
- John Kenneth Galbraith

It is beyond any doubt that the sooner you start on the path to reaching your weight loss goals the sooner you can enjoy all the benefits of better health and well-being from the reduction in body fat that you will be able to achieve.

That is why if you have been considering a weight loss program for some time, or you have been on other weight loss programs in the past and have not succeeded to date, then today can be the day that you decide to change your way and give yourself improved health for the rest of your life.

It is not a myth that even the smallest change that you can make today will be the first step to a new you.

So, taking into account the possibility that nothing else, decide to drink enough water today to remain hydrated and accept that alone as your first step towards improving your health and reducing your weight to more acceptable levels where you can feel happy about your body.

Typically the beginning of any weightloss program can be the smallest change in direction in your life. What is the most important factor is actually making that change and taking that first step.

Doing that today could be the breakthrough that you need to push yourself to better things.

Nobody even needs to know that you have started on a weight loss program because the change will be minimal and very often talking about doing something stops people from actually doing it. Energy can be wasted in words whereas action will change your life.

The fact that you are reading this information means that you have either taken action already or you are still anticipating taking the action that you know is needed. For your own health and well-being today is that day.

The quality of your life in the future can very well depend on the action that you take right now.

Pelvic Tilts
This stomach exercise requires lying on your back on a flat surface, such as the floor or a bench. Use a mat or towel to cushion your spine. Bend your knees so that your feet are flat on the floor. Raise your pelvis (and only your pelvis) off the floor, hold momentarily, and then lower it back down. Repeat for an entire set. Maintaining a controlled movement is crucial to this exercise. This will allow you to use your abdominal muscles, rather than your body’s momentum, to do the work on the exercise. Also, be sure to keep your upper body on the floor throughout.

The Most Effective Foods For Losing Weight

Looking for foods that help you lose raise their metabolism to a sky high rate or burn off fat as they’re being digested. Unfortunately these foods don’t exist, despite diet myths to the contrary. But there are some foods that will help you to lose fat more than others, including:

Fruit & Vegetables
Ok, you’ve heard it before, but fruit and veg are among the most excellent foods you can eat, both for weight loss and for the sake of your general health. They are low in calories, high in nutrients, and high in fibre too, so you’ll feel satisfied for longer and be less likely to overeat. Luckily fruits and vegetables are both tasty and versatile, so most people find it’s simple to include them in their diets. Boost your intake by adding some extra veg or salad to your main meals, and snack on fruit and raw veggies if you get hungry in between.

Beans & Pulses
Beans and pulses are wonderful foods for dieters. They are fibre-rich and very filling, and are digested slowly, so your energy levels will stay high throughout the day. They’re also very versatile, and can be used in soups, stews, stir-fries, casseroles and many other types of meal. Beans have also been found to contain a digestive hormone that helps to suppress the appetite, helping to reduce the likelihood that you’ll overeat.

Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has had something of a bad reputation in mainstream nutritional circles, thanks to a number of flawed studies funded by the large vegetable oil companies. However people in tropical countries have long valued coconuts and their oil for their beautifying and health-promoting properties, and now western societies are catching up too, as well as discovering coconut oil’s suitability for dieters. This oil is valuable for weight loss because it is rich in medium chain triglycerides, which (unlike the long chain triglycerides that dominate in most vegetable oils) are actually burned by the body for fuel. And not only that, but consuming coconut oil may help to increase your metabolic rate too, so your body burns fat more quickly. Just make sure that any coconut oil you buy is virgin and preferably organic, as lower quality oils have usually been processed in ways that destroy its health and metabolism-boosting benefits.

Protein
Protein foods form the core of low carb diets, but you don’t need to go the low carb route (which many find to be unbalanced and unsustainable) to reap the weight loss benefits of eating protein foods. British researchers discovered that after a protein-rich meal, a hormone called PYY is released, which has appetite-suppressing effects. Although this hormone is also released after eating fat- and carb-heavy meals, protein-rich meals foods trigger the greatest quantity. So if your weight loss is being derailed by the desire to overeat, increasing the amount of protein in your meals could help to get your appetite under control.

So, rather than looking for the perfect ‘miracle’ food for weight loss, just make an effort to include these widely available foods in your diet, and you might find that you’re losing weight more quickly and easily, even without any additional effort.

Good fat to eat for weight reduction and supreme health

During our voyage through life, we are bombarded with stereotypical images of health, fitness, and beauty by society and media. It is up to us to interpret and react how we see appropriate. Most of us are dedicated to finding ways to fit these expectations. We search for remedies, light, low fat, no fat foods to “fix” ourselves. When in actuality, we should be leaving behind this thought pattern and instead be searching for alternatives, such as finding good fat to eat. Let’s explore this, shall we?

Myth: All fat is bad.
Truth: There are types of good fat to eat.
Fact: Over 100,000 Americans have too much fat on their bodies.

Everyone’s body possesses fat. There is safe fat and excess fat. People store excess fat on their bodies because they are eating the wrong types of fat…not the good ones.

As human beings, it is important to store a certain amount of fat droplets in our bodies. This is necessary for preserving the functions of cells. In addition, there are great many types of fats that hold great powers to fight disease. The key to dealing with fats is to control both the amount of fat you eat and the kind of fat you eat. So, let’s talk about some good fat to eat, OK?

First off, we need to discuss the composition of fat, briefly, of course.

A major building block of fat is fatty acids, which are composed of chains of carbon atoms. The length of these chains predicts how your body uses the fat. Shorter chains of fatty acids are absorbed quicker than longer chains of fatty acids are absorbed, which tend to be stored as fat.

Attached to these chains of fatty acids (or carbon atoms) you will find hydrogen atoms. The more of these, the more saturated the fat is. If the chain is missing some hydrogen atoms, the fatty acid is unsaturated. One missing point of hydrogen atoms is referred to a monosaturated fat (found in olives, cashews, and salmon). When there are two or more missing points the fat is called polysaturated. This fat is found in fish and vegetable oils. EFA or Essential Fatty Acid is present in polysaturated fat and is very important for normal cell growth and development.

Now, let’s talk more about the good fat to eat.

Essential fatty acids are not produced by the human body. Hence, EFA’s are solely provided by your diet. Essential Fatty Acids are extremely beneficial to our bodies. It even has the ability to treat many health conditions.

Being that the fats we eat are altered by chemical means, they have been striped of their EFA’s. They are now synthetic fats such as trans-fatty fats found in fast foods, stick margarine and packaged snacks, i.e. cookies.

Lastly, EFA’s are classified into 2 omega fats more commonly known as omega 3 and omega 6. These fats are both essential and must be included in your diet.

Omega 3 fatty acid is known for preventing and/or treating heart disease, arthritis, cancer, high blood pressure, and diabetes. Omega 3 fats are present in the following foods: Walnuts, wheat germ oil, salmon, sardines, tuna and other cold water fish. Also, flax seeds, purslane, and perilla oils are all high in omega 3 fats.

Omega 6 fatty acids regulate reproduction and metabolism, and are good for both skin and hair and important for normal growth. Foods high in omega 6 fats include but not limited to almonds, peanut butter, Brazil nuts, soybean oil, cotton seed oil, corn oil, sunflower seeds and walnuts.

Now that we have touched on some very basic facts about fat, hopefully we now are more comfortable with the consumption of fats. Now let’s go out there and find some good fat to eat.

Good health and weight loss can be obtained with out starving yourself. Find out how you can optimize your health and loose fat off your body by eating not deprivation. Learn more about good fat to eat and strip that fat without gimmicks and all the hype.

Meet the Weight Loss Technique that Truly Works

May 9, 2009 by admin

The truth is that a scientific discovery by The University Of Minnesota in 1996 changed people’s attitude toward trying to lose weight again. Read the following three vital points that a lot of people don’t know about weight loss.

1. It is impossible to lose weight with the present weight loss techniques due to that they work against the natural processes of our bodies! Mother nature is too strong to fight. Simply saying it means that the answer lies in the discovery made during the previously mentioned study at the University of Minnesota. So, they found: their point is they discovered that our bodies have a “weight regulatory pathway” that includes the brain, adipose tissue, and other peripheral organs and glands and this pathway is some kind of a communication channel between fat cells and our brains.

For your better understanding of the issue you should know the following term:

“Adipose” means “fat” but is usually used to refer specifically to tissue made up of mainly fat cells such as the yellow layer of fat beneath the skin. This word comes from the Latin “adeps” meaning “fat, particularly lard.”)

It is also critical to mention that the two body hormones, Leptin & Adiponectin, are critical to the proper functioning of this “pathway”.

2. Our bodies produce the hormone, Leptin

You should know that Leptin is an amazing hormone that is manufactured by every cell in our bodies. The first thing that should be pointed out is that it serves as a regulator of body fat storage through the central nervous system.

Leptin regulates:
• When you feel full of food
• Your desire for more food
• How fast your body digests and absorbs the food

It should be also mentioned that, in addition, Leptin has a regulating affect on the hormone “GHRELIN.” In its turn, this hormone works to make you hungry. Leptin counters this hormone to take away some “hungry” feelings on your part. It also affects the regulation of your energy balance, and helps with suppressing our food intake.

3. All of these factors help a lot of people to induce their weight loss, and keep their body at the right weight level. The other hormone that is create by the organism and should be mentioned here is Adiponectin that is the other amazing hormone. This important hormone has been shown to have a protective effect against diabetes and cardiovascular disease. However, it will be also interesting for you to know that people who have problems with their weigh exhibit lower levels of this hormone.

Actually that is the reason why obese individuals are more prone to those two diseases because the amount of Adiponectin in their bodies is not enough to counter the tendencies toward diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Now you realize that the protective power of Adiponectin is more limited in obese individuals and that is why it is more complicated for them to lose weight no matter how they try.

The last thing to admit is that it is the higher levels of Adiponectin in the body that typically boost weight loss and makes the body more sensitive to insulin, which controls the sugar levels. In fact this works as insulin sensitivity increases when people lose weight. So, it is obvious that people have lower sugar levels and move away from diabetes when their insulin sensitivity levels increase.

Author Matthew Roberts has spent over 3 decades in health and
fitness and knows the fastest way to lose weight. He has also spent many years researching weight loss supplements and knows what works and what doesn’t.

Setting Weight Loss Targets. Facts to Consider

Setting Weight Loss Goals

Quote: I’ve decided that perhaps I’m bulimic and just keep forgetting to purge.
- Paula Poundstone

Most successful people find that setting goals is one of the most important parts of achieving those goals and this applies to almost everything in life including your ability to be successful with weight loss.

What you do have to realize however is these goals need to be realistic and you need to believe that you can achieve them or you will be starting off on the wrong foot and failure will be imminent.

More Information:
http://vur.me/KGMarketer/fat

To make your goal achievable you need to look at it over an extended period of time rather than believing that you can lose 15 pounds in a couple of weeks.

While this might be possible it is certainly a lot harder to achieve than to expect to lose that weight over the course of several months.

Keeping a diary helps a lot of people to achieve their goals as it helps to enforce the actions that are required to meet those goals on a daily basis.

In your diary you can record your body weight, the foods you’ve been eating, any supplements you have been taking and the results that you have been getting from these actions.

This helps you to readjust your goals and make changes to your fitness and nutrition as things change in the course of your weight loss program.

Within your major goal you should also have short-term goals and once again these need to be realistic to keep you motivated.

These short-term goals will change from time to time as during the course of your weight loss program you will probably find that progress accelerates after certain stages of your plan.

Sometimes you will also plateau for a while where your weight loss will tend to slow down and by having a diary you will be able to look at those areas that you might be able to change to get over that plateau and continue to progress.

Side Bend

A simple exercise, side bends are also probably the most effective method for losing love handles. Start by standing upright. Position your feet shoulder width apart and bend your knees slightly. Lower your whole torso to one side, then back to the other. Lean only side to side, not backwards or forwards

Twist

This stomach exercise is also effective at reducing love handles, and is good to do right after the side bends in your routine, as it is also done in a standing position. Again, with feet shoulder width apart, slowly twist the body to one side, then to the other. The key here is to twist from your torso, not from the hips. As much of the twisting work as possible should be done by your oblique muscles, not your hip flexors. Keep your torso upright with no bending.
